Building a connection with Allah can feel like it’s really difficult, especially when we just spend so much time rushing through our daily lives. However, having a connection with Allah is what we need to have peace of mind and serenity.
So how do you connect to Allah in a meaningful way? You can make it easy or difficult for yourself. A lot of people like to take the difficult route and I used to be one of them, but Allah has given us an easy way. The very first thing to know is that being connected to Allah is as easy as remembering Him, the Most High. Thinking about Allah is what creates a connection and it’s the ultimate way to connect to Allah. Allah, the Most Loving informs us of this in the Quran, Surah Ar-Ra’d,28 where He says:
الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَتَطْمَئِنُّ قُلُوبُهُم بِذِكْرِ اللَّـهِ ۗ أَلَا بِذِكْرِ اللَّـهِ تَطْمَئِنُّ الْقُلُوبُ
“Those who have believed and their Hearts are re-assured by the remembrance of Allah, Indeed it is only in the Remembrance of Allah that the heart finds peace.”
In the verse of Surah – Ar-R’ad Allah informs us about what a connection with Him actually is. So the highest level of connection is created by remembering Him a lot.

Now you might ask, how can I spend the whole day remembering Allah if I’ve got my daily chores to do and I’m busy thinking about that?
It’s actually a pretty important question and one that even the Sahabah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) complained to him about. How can you busy yourself in both Deen and Dunya at the same time?
Just in case you’re reading this and you don’t know this is actually the 1st Lesson taken from our Free 5 Minute Quran Challenge.

If you prefer to read, here’s a quick outline of today’s lessons:
- Remembrance of Allah creates peace of Mind, less stress and the ability to deal with every day stresses without falling apart.
- Islam is not a set of rules and restrictions created to make life difficult. Instead, Allah has given us a how to guide, a map that connects your heart to The Creator through repeated thoughts about Allah.
If you want to feel connected to Allah, then follow the sunnah of the Messenger of Allah. Be aware that Allah is watching over you and protecting you.
Allah began the Quran with the Basmallah, which is to say Bismillahir Rahman Ar-Raheem.
بِسْمِ اللَّـهِ الرَّحْمَـٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
It’s the very first thing we read when we open the Quran, we say it when we eat, when we get changed, when we enter the home and of course when we make wudu.
We are taught in the Sunnah of the Messenger (peace and blessing be upon him) that we should say it at all times. And there’s a good reason…
It connects your every action to the remembrance of Allah. By saying this we think about Allah, and we are careful about what we say, eat and do. It virtually connects every action of the Muslim to Allah, making remembrance of Allah so much easier.
So, you don’t have to go out of your way to be connected to Allah. You can live your daily life and by this simple act of saying Bismillah and remembering Allah as you go about your day, you are connecting to Allah in a truly meaningful way.
How is it meaning you might ask? Well, it will help you towards good actions, ones that Allah is pleased with and just as important, it will help you stay away from evil action that Allah is displeased with.
Let’s be honest, you’re not going to say Bismillah and do something Haram (Prohibited in Islam). This is the remembrance of Allah on a practical level, one that will actually help you to mould your thoughts, character, and behaviour around what Allah is pleased with.
This is a true recipe for success in both Dunya and akhira insha’Allah.
That’s it for today’s short but Powerful lesson. Don’t underestimate the power that this small lesson will have on your life if applied daily. I pray Allah swt makes it easy for us all to make this a part of our lives.
